Train Company

Chicago-natives Train Company (John Zozzaro, guitar/vocals; Mark Alletag, saxophone/guitar/flute/clarinet; Rob Lejman, drums; Mike DeWitte, bass/vocals; and Samuel Wyatt, Keys) are a rock ‘n roll band with roots deep in the bedrock of local blues and jazz. On their forthcoming album, “The Remains Of An Effort”, thumping horn sections, haunting string arrangements and a soulful vocal trio fill out a musical cornucopia that is set to be released on August 14th.In the handful of years since a shared love of indie rock ‘n roll, jazz and blues brought them together, Train Company has independently released two records. The group followed up 2009′s self-titled debut “Train Company” with “Change [EP]” in 2010. The three song EP was recorded live to analog tape just days after performing at a sold-out Chicago House of Blues with Blues Traveler. The record revealed a band eager to bring new flavors to their inherent Chicago blues sound. Train Company’s music found airtime on Chicago’s 93XRT and college/internet radio stations across the country. This led to another sold-out show at Chicago’s House of Blues with Counting Crows in 2011. By this time, Train Company had already begun recording “The Remains Of An Effort” in-between tour and festival performances.Beginning in August 2010, Train Company hunkered down in Chicago to recording their third studio album, their most ambitious recording project to date. The band utilized four different locations to complete recording; including three studios between Chicago and DeKalb, and Producer Patrick DeWitte’s Chicago apartment. Fellow NIU graduate Samuel Wyatt became a permanent member and now contributes piano, organ and occasionally keytar (seriously). Vocal trio Busy Brynn & The Bees inflect into the songs both passionate fire and unfulfilled longing. A driving, energetic horn section lead by Alletag and a string quartet bring a delicate verve to the final landscape. The resulting album belies a group testing the boundaries of its influences and forging a new, eclectic rock and roll sound.
