The Cells as The Smithereens

The Cells are a Chicago-based band featuring Cory Hance, Johnny Furman, Randy Payne, and Dave Suh. Begun in 1997, the Cells have released two albums, "We Can Replace You" on Orange Recordings in 2002, and "Mayday" on Old Reliable Records in 2006.Past members of the Cells include Pat McIntyre, Brede Hovland, Rick Ness, Mark Doyle, Skid Marks, Joshua James, Bob Rising, Zack Snyder, Kevin Hoetger, and their producer/recording engineer Andy Gerber of Million Yen Studios.Cory, Johnny and Randy "re-activated" the Cells in 2015 for a reunion show after a several-year hiatus, and had a really good time. They invited their old friend, singer-guitarist Dave Suh, to join the band in the summer of 2016. They plan to play new shows and create new music, and invite other past members to join in when they can.

Craftwerc

Craftwerc is artisanal recreations/merciless slaughters of popular (?) 70s and 80s synthpop by Blair, Polonsky, St Cyr and Zelenko.

The Differents

Lou Hallwas started The Differents with some high school buddies in a garage in Chicago’s Norwood Park neighborhood in the early ‘90s. Current drummer Dan Garrity joined the band in 1994. After a hiatus here and there, Hallwas and Garrity were joined by singer-songwriter Gary Stier in 2015 who took on bass duties and began writing new material with the group. Over the years, the band has played hundreds of gigs and have opened for the likes of Wayne Kramer and Soul Asylum, and have released three albums before going semi-dark in 2003. Their music has strong roots in 60s & 70s R&B and rock ‘n’ roll. They take a jazz approach to creating: They love trying new things and letting the songs flow, and they don’t concern themselves with trends. Their forthcoming fourth album, “It’s All Too Beautiful,” was recorded by Penthouse Sweets drummer Adam Yoffe and will be released in late November 2018.  "The music has a timeless feel, melding traditional rock riffs with pop sensibility. The Differents move from reference points such as The Beatles to Fleetwood Mac and The Replacements." – John Wawrzaszek, NewCity
