Rabble Rabble

Rabble Rabble is a psych punk band from Chicago, IL. Their origins trace back to short lived musicprojects between Todd McCafrey, Ralph Darski and Kaylee Preston in the mid 00's. Multiple line upchanges and two names later the group was set. In 2008 the new formed Rabble Rabble consisting offRalph Darski (Guitar, Bass, Vocal), Todd McCafrey (Guitar, Bass, Vocal), Kaylee Preston (Drums) andMatt Ciarleglio (Bass, Guitar, Vocal) hit the Chicago music scene.Focusing their attention on the blossoming underground DIY music venues, the band brought theirinfectious blend of garage punk and psychedelia to basements and lofts of Chicago. Quickly gaining areputation for their raucous energized performances the band set out to record their first EP. Aftersetting up a make shift studio in their practice space and spending the dead of winter recording,“Jailbait” was released in March of 2009 on the band's newly formed Commune Records (Laterrereleased as a tape on the Plus Tapes Label). After continuing their roll of multiple Chicago shows each month Rabble Rabble got together withtheir sister band The Great Society Mind Destroyers recorded a spit demo, cramped 9 people into aconversion van and hit the road for a two week tour. Upon returning Rabble Rabble spent no timerelaxing and hit the Chicago bar scene full force while still rocking the basements. In November 2009Rabble Rabble was voted band of the Month by the Deli Magazine Chicago and scored some freestudio time, recording two songs. Looking back at 2009 the band realized they played over 100 showsand needed to release a live EP. So they did and called it live 2009. While having those two studiorecorded tracks in the bag the band decided to roll out the mattresses and begin recording in theirpractice space once again.Although in the midst of recording Rabble Rabble did not slow their roll on shows in 2010. Theywanted their record to represent their live shows and the only way to stay in the live mind frame was tokeeping playing live. Rabble Rabble finished recording and production of their first full length album“Bangover” in March 2010. Hoping to make this a vinyl release the band pitched the record to manylabels and while gaining interest the time frame for release was much to far from what Rabble Rabblehad in mind. So they split the cost and got the record pressed themselves putting it out on their veryown Commune Records label which till then was strictly doing CDR releases.Come summer 2010 Rabble Rabble released their debut LP and loaded the van once again . Setting outfor a three week long tour taking them to venues like The Middle East in Boston and CoCo 66 in NewYork. While in New York Rabble Rabble met up with Stephen George formerly of Ministry andknocked out a 18 hour full studio session leading to a digital and 7” single release on Gimme thatSound Productions in the spring of 2011.Upon returning from tour the band slowed down a bit playing live, becoming more selective withshows and focusing on new material as well as planing their March 2011 SxSW trip and another liverelease. If one thing is clear Rabble Rabble have found their jet stream and are along for the ride

Plain Jane Automobile

Word of mouth is a force of immense power, capable of gradually transforming an obscure secret into a viral meme. Themembers of Plain Jane Automobile (PJA) , having steadily worked their way from “best kept secret” status tointernational notoriety, know this well. And this trend is showing no signs of slowing down. After capturing the title of“Best Unsigned Band” in the Southeast at the 2005 Discmakers Independent Music Showcase, PJA's premier single“Close My Eyes” made waves in regular rotation on Orlando's OROCK 105.9 (WOCL). The quartet's compelling soundechoes from pockets worldwide, as multiple PJA tunes now occupy millions of Nokia cell phones in various countries. The band signed with the Agency of the Performing Arts in the summer of 2006, a development that resulted in a pair ofnational tours with Ours as well as supporting slots with Jet, Blue October, Supergrass, Sterophonics, MuteMath, andPlain White T's. Musically, their memorable melodies and driving rhythms have earned them comparisons to the likes ofDoves, Supergrass, and U2.Through online networking, social media, and the help of their supportive fan base, Plain Jane raised over $12,000 tofund their forthcoming album, Your Tomorrow, produced by Rick Beato (Shinedown, Needtobreathe)."Around the time we started writing the album, I was spending a lot of time watching WWII films and found myselfinspired by these amazing stories of survival, rebirth, faith, healing, love, and loss", notes Duke Crider (vocals/guitar)regarding the albums lyrical themes. "As I revisited the lyrics during the recording process, I noticed that a lot of thesongs were tied together. I guess I'm a little obsessed with that era because my grandfather was a Polish Jewliving in Germany at the time of all the madness."The album's opener “You Were Only a Song” finds Crider brandishing the memory of a fallen friend as a sort of mantra,a reminder of the world's beauty....snatched from the jaws of a painful and trying loss. Armed with this keepsake, theband's front man confronts a myriad of challenges as the album progresses, including torturous nightmares, unduecriticism from a never-satisfied lover, as well as the general stresses of living in a time when the sky always seems tobe falling. The title track offers a fervent plea to humanity's best to never stop surprising us. According to Crider, the song is basedon the story of the Bielski partisans. "They survived in the woods for over two years, rescuing over 1200 people in theprocess and eventually restarting their lives in New York." The album's closer, the understated “Please Leave Quietly”,represents a decision to face whatever future lies ahead with an attitude of love and forgiveness.

Courrier

The title of Courrier ’s debut full-length album, A Violent Flame, is a fitting description of the boys from Austin, Texas. Like an uncontrollable fire in an often stagnant and monotonous music ”business,” Courrier ’s music is has ignited the attention of listeners worldwide, and their music spreading like wildfire. With a penchant for melody in the likes of alternative-rock bands like Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, and Kings of Leon, Courrier writes songs as soothing as they are sincere. It is in this duality that Courrier finds their message. In the beauty of existence and the pain of experience, lead singer Austin Jones’ voice even reflects the honeyed grit of reality, while the ascending harmonies and radiant guitars anthem the intimate. With A Violent Flame, Courrier reaches a whole new height of creativity and songwriting. "This is the best work we have ever done," says the band. The album, engineered by Adam Hawkins (whose credits include Switchfoot and Regina Spektor) and produced by Matt Noveskey (also the bass player for Blue October), displays this next-level lyricism, melody, and overall songwriting. A Violent Flame will assure you of a few things. A rock sung can still be sung like a hymn. A band can and should be more than a single. And thoughtful lyricism doesn’t have to sacrifice infectious melody. With their firm grasp of digital marketing and understanding of the new music industry, Courrier managed to have a strong independent release of their debut record on February 1st, 2011. In the month prior to their release, Courrier was featured on the NoiseTrade email newsletter, which allowed them to have over 3,000 downloads of an album sampler they gave away for free. The boys were also featured on Relevant’s Magazine The Drop, which was the exclusive online location for the stream of their album.
