LUTHI

It’s another steamy day in Nashville and I’m hanging with Christian Luthi at his pad on the east side. We’re sharing a coffee at three in the afternoon as he begins to come-to after an evening of work and play.  Originally from Hartford, WI, his musical journey began at the age of five. However, the story really begins when he packed up everything he owned in his mini van, gave up music school in Madison, WI and headed south to Nashville. He had never stepped foot in TN and was pumped to start fresh. He went to work making cronies and “faking” Belmont.  After playing Americana for five or six years, writing with and for various artists in the city, he’s decided to pursue his long-time vision of a funk crew. “I felt like I was writing what I was writing because everyone was doing it,” he says. “I’ve always just wanted to create something that people can boogie to — something that’s timeless.”  Now, rolling with a big band including various horns and a variety of saucy vibes, he's beginning the next part of the saga. The band is a true melting pot, no one is from the same place. LUTHI has a bit of something for everybody. It’s time for people to get down. That's really it. So put on something weird, take off your shoes, and come on.
