Low Swans

2015 has been a watershed year for the Chicago electronic-rock duo, Low Swans. Ending 2014 with their full length "The Whole World Has No Clothes", 2015 was a flurry of live shows engendering a loyal fanbase and a reputation for consistently powerful shows. The year also saw the the release of 5 new singles all garnering radio play and attention across the internet with catchy rockers like "Heart on Fire" and the more dense and epic "The Business of The End". Their sound has grown deeper and centered around frontman Jon Scarpelli's vocals and Scott Simon's signature effected vibraphone sound.  Where "The Whole World Has No Clothes" was a soundscape for observing a culture at the fulcrum corruption and self awareness, the 2015 singles (collected under the title MMXV, available at all major music distributors) are more personal and reflective with a more urgent and vital sound than ever before. The music reflects a band that has at last found their place and staked their claim to an unmistakable sonic hybrid. Packing shows at classic Chicago venues like The Metro, Lincoln Hall, Cubby Bear and The House of Blues with finely crafted sets that take the audience on a journey and leaves them wanting more. Starting in earnest in late 2014 with their first full length full effort, Low Swans has come a long way since their early demos and live recordings. The ambient 80's tinged synth textures, neo-prog electronic beats and dexterous vocals that define their signature sound are the fruits of a varied career spanning decades and genres from Jon Scarpelli (vocals, guitar, programming) and Scott Simon (vibraphone, backing vocals). Since meeting as undergradute music students, the two have had a journeyman ethic having written, directed and performed in about every kind of music setting possible. From Jazz to experimental to drum line, Scarpelli and Simon are not single-minded. With this, the future of Low Swans is wide open and their experience makes it clear that everything and anything is possible and attainable. It's this excitement that fuels the band. Knowing that the artistic well is deep and wide. Knowing that the audiences are waiting and willing. Clearing a strong space in social media, staying close to the fans and consistently releasing emotionally-compelling & sonically-potent material, Low Swans is on a mission and their music arrives as a moment of synthesis where experience, craftsmenship & spirit emerge as a distilled, genre-defying statement.
