Love & Happiness: A Live Tribute to Al Green

A night of the classic Memphis soul of Al Green, played by a who's who of Chicago rock, jazz, and soul musicians. Bill Brickey leads acoustic soul group Wood Bone & Steel as well as heading ShooBooty Productions and organizing the Elastic Arts concert series. Steve Dawson is well known on the Chicago music scene as leader of Dolly Varden and Funeral Bonzai Wedding, and has just co-authored the songwriter’s how-to Take It to the Bridge with Mark Caro. Alton Smith has played for years with bands like Ann Fermin’s Trigger Gospel and Rachel Drew and the Bitter Roots. John Mead leads his own band as well as numerous tribute projects. Gros Ngolle Pokossi has played bass as leader and sideman on several continents. Lenny Marsh plays with everyone, including jazz/gospel group Come Sunday. Award-winner Chris Greene leads his own band and has recently released the acclaimed Boundary Issues. Jack Cassidy has played, toured, and recorded extensively, and like many of the other musicians here, teaches at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
