Jonny Drake

 Jonny returns to the Chicago music scene on the heels of wrapping production of his upcoming "Lovers" LP, after a year on hiatus. Drake's solo group is a seven piece, pulling talent from Jaime Rojo, Magical Beautiful, Brother George, and more. Daniel Villarreal on drums, Jim Drake on organ/guitar, Nick Broste on keys, Neal Neumann on bass, with Ann Marie Meiers and Christine Chung Kenny on backing vocals. Jonny's unique banjo and acoustic focused neo-folk sound recalls that of Roy Orbison, Neil Young, Grandaddy, Kurt Vile, and at times The National. Simple and dark, analog and tape driven, the new material is hypnotic and addictive.
