Bronwyn & Kyle are coming to Martyrs' Thursday, April 2nd, 2026. Kyle's band on first, Bronwyn's band second, super jam 3rd!Bronwyn Keith-Hynes has long been renowned as a prolific instrumentalist, earning two IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year awards as well as a Grammy for her work with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway. But on her latest album I Built a World, the Charlottesville native unlocks an impressive new sound: her voice."This is the first album I've ever sung lead on. Singing is something I'd always thought I'd do at some point and in 2020 I had the time and space to finally find my voice," Bronwyn says. Even as the pandemic halted touring and so much else, vocal lessons kept her focused. "It's funny," she jokes of the timing, "you put a mask on me and suddenly I want to sing."I Built a World marks her first vocal album, but Bronwyn has been a musician since before she can remember. "Apparently, I saw two girls busking on the street playing fiddles when I was three," she explains with a laugh, "and I pointed to them and said, 'I will do that.'"
Equally comfortable picking pristine progressive bluegrass and electric jamband solos, Kyle Tuttle is a rare and virtuosic banjo player known for his work with GRAMMY-winning guitarist Molly Tuttle, and former Yonder Mountain String Band mandolin player Jeff Austin and his own Kyle Tuttle Band.

When taking on the moniker Chicago Farmer, singer-songwriter Cody Diekhoff aimed to not only showcase the dichotomy of his life and travels — growing up in the tiny Illinois farm community of Delavan, and calling “The Windy City” home for several years — he also wanted to honor his past through his uplifting, introspective melodies.“My hometown kind of goes with me wherever I go,” Diekhoff says. “All the things I learned from my grandparents, I take that with me wherever I go. They’re always in my heart and in my mind.”Which is why Diekhoff’s latest offering, Homeaid, puts a spotlight on the oldsoul nature and deep ethos of compassion and camaraderie that resides at the core of his being. A blend of Americana, indie-folk and roots-rock, the album swirls effortlessly into the ether of a modern world facing uncertain times.“Home is where the art is/Home is where there’s song,” Diekhoff erupts on the title track. “It hits you the hardest/When you’re away from home too long.”“If anything, I want my music to be genuine and authentic,” Diekhoff says. “My grandfather was a storyteller. He was a veteran, a family farmer, and he just collected stories. Hearing him tell all these stories definitely transferred over into my storytelling that’s in my music.”Meandering through Homeaid, there are odes to teenage transgressions in the name of irresponsible enlightenment (“Tina Hart’s Mustang”), odes to the splendor and tragedy of growing older (“Sorry You’re Sick”), odes to nothing and everything (“Mattress”) — the cultivation of which being Diekhoff and hiscurious life, one remaining in perpetual motion, onstage and on the road.“People come to watch it run when the sun went down/To raise a glass as it passed and hoist up the crown,” Diekhoff howls into the heavens. “Yeah, Tina Hart’s Mustang was the fastest car around.”With Homeaid, it’s this true sense of self that’s felt when it comes to those cherished faces and vivid moments from your own past. Images, sounds, and feelings conjured with ease, usually while cruising down some backcountry road, windows rolled down, the sunshine of another bountiful day slowly falling below the horizon, the unknown night quickly emerging — this crossroads of sheer gratitude and endless inspiration.“This is who I am now,” Diekhoff says of Chicago Farmer. “I represent both of these places, and I take a lot of pride in ownership of the name now.”

One of the most successful female artists of the twentieth century, Linda Ronstadt began her career in Southern California in the ’60s and ’70s. There, she became the nexus of a group of musicians pushing the boundaries between folk, country, and rock and roll music, who collaborated with, inspired, and provided material for her. Many of these musicians went on to find success of their own, including one of the best-selling groups of all time, the Eagles, whose founding members met playing in Ronstadt’s backing band. Come celebrate this musical confluence with John Mead’s True Believers and Cynthia Breckenridge performing music by Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, Warren Zevon, Lowell George, and Jackson Browne.

Chicago! The Grateful String Band is coming back to Martyrs' Friday, April 17th. 2 Sets of Grateful Dead, grab your tickets! In a world overflowing with Grateful Dead tribute acts, it takes more than tie-dye and a few noodly jams to stand out. Enter The Grateful String Band — a group of seasoned pickers and Deadheads who aren’t just rehashing the past, they’re reimagining it.With a deep love for the Dead’s legendary catalog — from crowd favorites to deep cuts, from Pigpen’s gritty blues to Jerry’s cosmic ballads — TGSB brings a fresh twist: high-octane bluegrass. Call it “Deadgrass,” call it a musical experiment gone wonderfully right — either way, it’s a sound that pays homage while blazing its own trail. But it doesn’t stop at the Dead. TGSB chases the spirit through its many reincarnations: Old & In the Way, Jerry Garcia Band, and beyond. If Grateful Dead ever played it (or even thought about playing it), TGSB is liable to break it down, build it back up, and run it through a mandolin. So if you're looking for the sweet spot between psychedelic rock and Appalachian soul, between Garcia and grassy, you're in the right place. The Grateful String Band — your one-stop shop for high-energy, heartfelt, and tastefully infused Deadgrass.

Mucca Pazza is a 30-odd-member rock ‘n roll marching band from Chicago, IL. Inspired by the subversive collaborations of Dada and Surrealism, Mucca Pazza seeks to attain the seemingly unattainable through an ever-evolving collective of artistic voices. Trumpets, trombones, saxes and sousaphones combine with guitar, mandolin, violin, cello and accordion, all on top of a rhythmic drumline — and all dressed in mismatched marching band uniforms. Add cheerleaders performing absurdist chants and you’ll quickly understand the band’s ethos: the bigger the better, the more the merrier, collectively jumping for joy.Ever since the band assembled in 2004 in the distinctly Chicago parking lot of a steel mill, Mucca Pazza has melded original compositions with street-theater spectacle. Musical influences range from Béla Bartók to Balkan folk, Björk to Charles Mingus, Clara Schumann to Frank Zappa — they are as comfortable in a performance hall as they are in football stadium bleachers.Nearly two decades in, Mucca Pazza continues as a multi-disciplinary fantasy of original music, shouted dream poems and sweaty dance freak outs performed by a large-scale collective that exists due to the grace and love of its ever-changing roster.

Everything began in Denver, Colorado, where Clay Street Unit formed in 2021. Many of the band's members — mandolinist Scottie Bolin, banjo player Jack Cline, pedal steel guitarist Brad Larrison, drummer Brendan Lamb, and singer/guitarist/ringleader Sam Walker — had grown up elsewhere, spending their teenage years in cities like Atlanta, Charlottesville and Montgomery. Coming together in Colorado where they added bassist Jack Kotarba, they mixed the southern soundtrack of their youths with the raw, rugged spirit of the West. After building an audience at local venues like Cervantes, the guys hit the road, where the very thing that once made their music so difficult to categorize — the sheer diversity of their sound — became one of their calling cards.Call it folk-country. Call it western Americana. Call it Rocky Mountain Newgrass with southern soul. Clay Street Unit aren't concerned about the various definitions; they're just happy that more and more people are listening. With Sin & Squalor, they stake their claim as torchbearers of something both fresh and familiar, nodding to the traditions of American roots music while sharpening their own modern edge.
