Andre Cholmondeley (Project/Object)

 WE ARE ANTS TO THEM is the electronic solo project of Andre Cholmondeley, founder of Project/Object, the longest running Zappa-alumni-based tribute band in the world. By day Andre is usually on tour somewhere, teching guitar, bass & software, for a variety of legendary artists. Otherwise out with Project/Object: Music Of Frank Zappa, on two continents for over 25 years. Often with any of a dozen of Zappa’s alumni; from early Mothers to his final 1988 band. Since the early 1980s, Cholmondeley has included synthesis in his original music, using early guitar synths like the Casio MG510 and pedals like the Electro Harmonix Guitar-Synth. Studied musique concrete, tape splicing, world music and Cage-influenced chance-based composition at Rutgers University. His current setup is centered around an ever-evolving compact modular setup, including some items from the superb local synthesizer makers Pittsburgh Modular. Andre has demoed at trade shows for MOOG SYNTHESIZERS, Musikmesse in Germany, and at NAMM in California. He has toured for nearly twenty years with legendary synth pioneer Don Preston, who was with Zappa/Mothers Of Invention from 1966-1974. Andre also recently performed at MOOGFEST 2019 in Durham NC with Modular On The Spot. WE ARE ANTS TO THEM features Andre Cholmondeley: electronics/guitar. Ambient textures, illbient trip-hop beats, an ongoing study of musique concrete, and a search for unconventional timbres and sounds in a musical setting. Synthesizer, guitar, rhythms, modern madness and where they all blur & overlap.
