Abandon Jalopy (Brad Smith of Blind Melon)

Brad Smith came to fame as a member of Blind Melon, a band named after a joke his father made about a Cheech & Chong movie. The band hit the big time with the hit “No Rain”, featuring the charismatic front man, Shannon Hoon. Just as things were riding high for Blind Melon, Hoon died while on tour of a drug overdose.  Blind Melon left their mark on music, yet there were still songs to sing. Smith went on to record with Unified Theory, and then formed a new band, Abandon Jalopy.  Smith has resurfaced with a new Abandon Jalopy album, “Death & Joy”. The songs on the album contain rich deep textures and raw emotions, making this one of the best indie albums on the market. (Jeb Wright)
