Funkadesi
Celebrating 30 years of global groove, Chicago’s own Funkadesi returns to Martyrs’ for a high-energy anniversary concert that blends cultures, rhythms, and pure joy. This 8-time award-winning ensemble fuses Indian bhangra, Bollywood, and folk traditions with reggae, funk, Afro-Caribbean, and soul — creating a sound that is both deeply rooted and unmistakably Chicago. Known for their “one-family” spirit and electrifying live shows, Funkadesi transforms every performance into a communal celebration of rhythm, movement, and connection. Even President Barack Obama once remarked:“Funkadesi really knows how to get the crowd fired up! There’s a lot of FUNK in that DESI!”
