Trio Mokili

Trio Mokili play roots and jazz-influenced interpretations of classic African guitar music. The group isled by Sydney-based guitarist Nathaniel Braddock, longtime leader of the Occidental Brothers DanceBand Int'l, and features his Chicago collaborators, Makaya McCraven and Junius Paul--two of thedeepest rhythm players in town. Their repertoire features music by Ethiopian composer Mulatu Astatke,Nigerian Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Zimbabwean mbira music, desert blues, and more.
