Sweet Mary

Sweet Mary has the kind of pipes that can span a variety of styles and ranges. Mary Porzelt developed a strong love for singing at a very young age. As she started writing her own music, she realized she had found a calling in songwriting. Her influences come from a wide variety of music: Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Classic Rock.It is her goal to stay true to the roots of older music - where the lyrics had deeper meaning - about social change, civil injustice, and upward mobility. She moved to Chicago in 2010 to pursue her career in music. Mary has already had the opportunity to work with some amazing musicians and producers thus far in her career. Her debut album of is a unique blend of R&B, Funk, Reggae, Jazz, and Blues. Musicians Ben "Smiley" Silverstein and Max Newman, of The Main Squeeze, played key roles in the writing, performance, and production. So far this year, Mary has grooved with a tremendously dynamic band consisting of Collin Obrien and Forrest Kelly (drums), Justin Canavan (guitar), Jae Gentile (bass), Paul Bedal and Hayden Ashley (keys) . Going forward in 2016 she will be headed to Los Angeles where a promising future awaits her. Expect a new album by 2017, and plenty of inspiring collaborations with other musicians.
