The Famous Brothers

Who are The Famous Brothers? Best answer: classic bluegrass harmony with an original comic twist.  The story is that The Famous Brothers hail from the hardscrabble mining town of Monkey’s Crevice, West Virginia. That's where they created a unique three-part harmony style and wrote their most memorable songs, such as “Armageddon Ready for the Second Coming" and "I've Got Twenty Ways to Kill You With My Swiss Army Knife.”  The Chicago Tribune calls the Famous Brothers “exceptionally witty...such clever lyrics, tuneful ditties, splendid harmonies and so warm a demeanor, you can sense a great deal of audience pleasure" The Chicago Reader says they’re “funny, smart, sweet-voiced, and overall amiable,” while the Windy City Times anoints them “a surefire crowd-pleaser, keeping the audience laughing and clapping along.” EntertainmentChicago adds that the threesome is “very funny. It is easy to forget that these guys can really sing.”  The Famous Brothers have appeared at such popular Chicagoland venues as FitzGerald’s, The Hideout, The Old Town School of Folk Music, The Green Mill, The Mayne Stage (where their "Honky-Tonk Hootenanny" ran for four months), Uncommon Ground, The Royal George Theatre, The Wilmette Theater, The Goodman Theater, Beat Kitchen, Martyr’s, The Empty Bottle, The Green Mill and the dearly departed Lyon’s Den. Their series of concerts at the Lakeshore Theater in 2005 garnered them a “Critic’s Choice” in the Chicago Reader.  Whatever and wherever the hell they are, The Famous Brothers are a damn good time.
