New Oceans

NEW OCEANS' distinct synth-rock sound developed from the echoes of Chicago's industrial music era, but mixed with a heavy dose of modern rock. Since their debut album "A Safe Place" released in 2011, New Oceans has been featured on Vocalo 89.5FM and are gaining notoriety in Chicago's music scene. Now, less than a year after their emergence from the studio, New Oceans is busy modifying, remixing, and tweaking their songs for live performances, ensuring a unique experience that goes beyond the original recordings. Each show guarantees a menagerie of catchy rock riffs, pounding electronic drums, squealing synthesizers, and dark lyrical storytelling.

With their youthful group of creative and exotic role players combined with their raw energy and drive, The Roalde Dahls have developed an insatiable thirst to perform. The band emanates its energy live so strongly and so contagious that their audience cannot help themselves from matching the bands enthusiasm. The Roalde Dahls aspirations as musicians are to emotionally effect and inspire a vast audience of listeners and artists through their electrifying creative musical performances as well as their spaced out landscapes.

Girl Detective

Girl Detective is a Chicago duo creating original alternative and experimental music with a lush and cerebral 80s / postmodern / altrock sound. Consisting of Rani Woolpert and Jason Oppman, the band formed in May 2010 when Woolpert, a visual artist and singer, was looking for a guitarist for another band and found Oppman on Craigslist. Oppman, a composer and songwriter since the mid-‘90s, had been seeking a collaborator who shared his musical influences—‘80s bands The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Cocteau Twins, The Smiths, Joy Division, and others—to add to the numerous songs he had written. After hearing his music, Woolpert realized his songs had the sound she was looking for, and suggested they work together on a new project. The collaboration started with sending tracks back and forth—Oppman providing the music and Woolpert writing lyrics and recording improvised vocals on first listen. The duo began meeting weekly in Oppman's home studio in late summer 2011 to build the live sound, while also continuing to write collaboratively in the original manner.
