The Last Word Quintet

Come see Marc Kelly Smith when the Last Word Quintet reignites the spirit of the Uptown Poetry Slam on Saturday, August 14, 1 p.m. to 3 p,m. Smith hosts Chicago slam legends Cin Salach & Sheila Donahue LIVE with the Last Word Quintet in this debut rebirth. Danny Solis, world-renowned poet/Minnesota educator, and Eli Bensusan, Istanbul Poetry Slam founder/interdisciplinary artist in Turkey, perform via Zoom during the two-hour event. For more than 35 years, Smith's dynamic performance poetry fueled the city and sparked slams worldwide. Now, the Last Word Poetry Slam streams across the globe to give poetry slam communities worldwide a taste of the excitement and craft that began in Chicago and continues to thrive decades later.
